Publish to Contentful from Wavefront

Write approved articles as Contentful entries of your content type, as drafts or published.

Content Management API token Articles

What it does

Wavefront writes each approved article as an entry of one Contentful content type through the Content Management API. Entries are drafts by default, or published.

You map Wavefront's fields to your content type's fields. A revision changes only the mapped fields in its locale, so fields and locales an editor added stay.

Before you start

  • A Contentful space with a content type for articles (title, slug and body fields)
  • An account whose role can edit and publish that content type and create assets

How to connect Contentful

  1. In Contentful, create a personal access token under Settings → CMA tokens.
  2. In Wavefront, open Settings → Publishing and choose Add destination. Pick Contentful.
  3. Enter the space ID, the environment (usually master) and the token.
  4. Choose Load fields, pick the content type and map title, slug and body, plus any optional fields.
  5. Optionally set the locale, a live URL pattern so Wavefront can check the page, and how authors and categories are found.
  6. Choose Test connection. Wavefront reads the locales and the content type and checks the mapped fields.

What Wavefront sends

  • Title, slug, excerpt, SEO title and description, and canonical URL
  • The body as Contentful rich text, or Markdown on a long text field
  • Header and body images as assets
  • Authors and categories as references to existing entries, or as text
  • Tags as a list, and the article date

Good to know

  • Scheduling (Contentful's Scheduled Actions) and Contentful tags aren't supported.
  • At most 15 images per article become assets; outside images and SVG are left out and listed.
  • Withdraw unpublishes the entry and keeps it as a draft.
