What it does
Notion works in both directions. As a destination, Wavefront publishes approved articles as Notion pages, in a database or under a parent page. As a source, you import Notion pages and databases into the workspace so drafts can read them.
Imports only read. Each imported page becomes a document that names where it came from, and you can resync it daily.
Before you start
- A Notion workspace where you can share pages with an integration
- For drafts: a database with a status or select property
How to connect Notion
- To publish: In Wavefront, open Settings → Publishing and choose Add destination. Pick Notion.
- Choose Connect with Notion and share the database or page the articles go to, or paste an internal integration token and add the integration to that page.
- Choose Load fields, pick the database or page, and map Title plus optional Slug, Date, Tags and Status properties.
- Choose Test connection, then save.
- To import: an owner opens Settings → Integrations, connects Notion under Document imports, and shares the pages to read.
- On the Documents page, choose Import, pick pages or databases, check the preview, and import. Turn on daily resync if you want changes to follow.
What Wavefront sends
- Publishing: the title, slug, date, tags and status as properties
- Publishing: the hero image and the body as Notion blocks, including tables, code and to-do lists
- Revisions update the same page; withdraw moves it to the trash
- Importing: pages as Markdown, and each database row as its own document
- Imported documents start with the source title, link and edit time
Good to know
- Notion has no SEO, canonical or JSON-LD fields, so those aren't sent.
- A draft needs a mapped status property; there is no scheduling.
- A revision replaces the page's blocks, so other edits made in Notion are lost (sub-pages stay).
- Imports keep image captions only, and sub-pages are separate imports.
