Post to social networks and newsletters
A person posts approved social copy to LinkedIn, X and other networks from the web app. Newsletter copy becomes a draft in Mailchimp, Kit or beehiiv.
Updated
Approved social copy goes to LinkedIn, X or other networks when a person chooses Post now or Schedule in the web app. Approved newsletter copy becomes a draft in Mailchimp, Kit or beehiiv, and you send it from there. Wavefront never posts to a social network or emails a newsletter on its own.
Why only a person posts
A public post or a sent email can’t be taken back. So posting to a social network and emailing a newsletter are reserved for a person signed in to the web app. API keys, AI agents and autopilot are refused, even when they can publish articles.
Social destinations
An owner connects one under Settings → Publishing:
| Destination | Networks | When |
|---|---|---|
| Your own LinkedIn feed | Post now only | |
| X | The X account you connect | Post now only |
| Social networks (Ayrshare) | LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest and Bluesky | Post now or Schedule |
For Ayrshare, choose Link social accounts, sign in to each network on the page that opens, then tick the networks this destination posts to and choose Test and save. Linking social accounts through Ayrshare needs the paid plan; it isn’t part of the trial.
A LinkedIn connection lasts 60 days, or longer where LinkedIn renews it. When it expires, the destination shows Reconnect needed.
Post approved social copy
- Draft the copy in a social format, such as a LinkedIn or X post, from the calendar or New generation. Approve it.
- In Publishing, pick the social destination.
- Optionally pick an approved image in Image. It must be made for the same post: the same piece, or drafted for the same calendar post.
- Choose Post now, or Schedule and a time. A post drafted from the calendar suggests its calendar date at 9:00.
- Confirm. Status updates appear below, with a link to the post.
Each social format goes to the one network it was written for. An approved image on its own goes to every network the destination lists.
Before anything is sent, Wavefront checks the text against each network’s limit, counted the way that network counts: 3,000 characters on LinkedIn, 280 on X, 2,200 on Instagram and TikTok, 500 on Threads and Pinterest, 300 on Bluesky. Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok need an image. If a check fails, nothing is posted and the publication says why.
Change or delete a social post
Social posts can’t be edited. To post a new version, withdraw the old post first, then post again. Withdraw deletes the post on the network. Instagram and TikTok don’t let apps delete published posts: delete it in the network’s app, then choose Withdraw again so Wavefront records it.
Newsletters
Draft newsletter copy like any other copy. It comes with a subject line, preview text and a body that links to your article. For a digest, include several posts.
To send it through a newsletter tool:
- An owner adds Mailchimp, Kit or beehiiv under Settings → Publishing.
- Approve the newsletter copy.
- In Publishing, choose Create draft in the tool. A later version offers Update the draft in the tool instead.
- Open the tool, review the draft and send it from there.
Wavefront never sends or schedules these drafts. Once a draft has been sent or scheduled in the tool, Wavefront can no longer update or delete it.
Ghost newsletters
A Ghost destination can also email a post to a Ghost newsletter, but only when both switches are on:
- An owner allows newsletter sending in the destination’s settings.
- When publishing a post live, a person checks Also email it to the … newsletter and confirms with Publish and send email.
A piece is emailed at most once through a destination. Withdrawing the post later takes the page down but can’t recall the email. Agents and API keys can publish to Ghost but can never send the email.
Copy you post by hand
Every approved copy or image has Use it: Copy text, Download image, or Open image with its credit line for a stock photo. Use these for any network or tool Wavefront doesn’t post to.
If something goes wrong
- “Not posted”. A check or the network refused the post before it went out. Nothing was posted, so you can fix the text and try again.
- A post failed and might have gone out. When a network didn’t confirm a post, Wavefront never sends it twice. Check the account on the network before posting again.
- A network isn’t linked. Choose Link or remove accounts on the Ayrshare destination and link it.
