Connect Bing Webmaster Tools
Paste your Bing Webmaster API key, pick a verified site, and Bing's queries and pages appear next to Google's on the Performance page, synced daily.
Updated
An owner connects Bing Webmaster Tools by pasting a Bing Webmaster API key under Settings → Integrations and picking a verified site. Bing’s data then syncs daily and appears next to Google’s on the Performance page. Bing’s index also feeds ChatGPT search and Copilot answers, so its data shows how you appear there too.
Before you start
- Your site must be verified in Bing Webmaster Tools. If it isn’t, verify it there first.
- You need to be an owner of the Wavefront workspace.
Get your API key
- Sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Open Settings → API access.
- Generate a key, or copy the one you have.
Connect Bing
- In Wavefront, open Settings → Integrations and find Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Paste the key into Bing Webmaster API key.
- Choose Connect Bing. Wavefront checks the key with Bing and lists your verified sites.
- Pick the site under Bing site. Wavefront preselects the one that matches the site in your workspace documents.
- Choose Save. The first sync starts at once. Choose See performance to open the Performance page.
The key is stored encrypted and never shown again.
What you see
- A Google, Bing or Both switch on Performance, once Google is connected too.
- Tiles for clicks, impressions and average position from Bing.
- A Source column in the queries and pages tables.
- Opportunities from Bing’s data, marked with their source.
Bing reports by week, so its numbers cover the latest four complete weeks Bing has published, compared with the four before. They won’t line up exactly with Google’s 28 days.
Bing’s data also feeds suggestions and site metrics, which add Bing’s clicks, impressions and inbound links. See suggestions and site metrics.
Sync, change or disconnect
- Sync now or Refresh fetches new data. Owners and editors can use them. If Bing was tried in the last 10 minutes and failed, try again later.
- To pick another site, change it and Save. Only the owner who connected can pick.
- Disconnect deletes the stored key and the synced Bing data. Nothing changes in Bing Webmaster Tools; delete the key there too if you no longer use it.
IndexNow is separate
Connecting Bing Webmaster Tools reads data. To tell Bing about new pages as you publish them, turn on IndexNow on the destination instead. See connect a destination.
If something goes wrong
- The key is refused. Copy it again from Settings → API access in Bing Webmaster Tools, with no spaces.
- “This Bing account has no verified sites yet”. Verify the site in Bing Webmaster Tools first, then connect again.
- “Bing access stopped working”. Bing refused the stored key, for example after it was regenerated. Connect a new key.
- “The last sync had a problem”. The message says what went wrong. Bing limits how often its data can be read; wait and choose Sync now later.
